Back Closed Lion – Right

Back Closed Lion – Left

Back Closed Lion – Description
The Back Closed Lion is a one-footed move that starts on a back inside edge and finishes on a front outside edge. It is recommended that you are comfortable rolling in both of those positions before you try this move.
The rolling foot should roll in a trajectory the shape of a #3, and the raised leg is typically leading in front of the rolling leg, with the knees/hips pointing toward each other. It can help to initiate this turn by extending the non-rolling foot in the direction of travel, and then retracting it during the pivot moment. It also helps to lean into the turn while on the back inside edge, and again on the front outside edge during the exit of the move.
On all backward wizard moves, it is easiest to pivot on the rear wheels, meaning your weight should be in the heel of your foot. This requires a bit more trust than the front lions. It is tempting to do this move using the ball of the foot, but that only works at low speed. As you increase the speed of the move, it will get caught, and the way to counteract this is by leaning further back onto the rear wheels and leaning hard into the inside edge.
